History
The continent of Vesmír has had a rough history, Will this new age be the rebirth of a great world, or will the competition for the world end up burning it down?
The Discovery era
The first people to arrive at the shores of Vesmír populated the new and empty land. It was a humble beginning for the people until they discovered what would make the continent one of the most powerful kingdoms in the world; magic.
Vesmír was situated in a very peculiar location and worked as a conduit to the magical powers. People of Vesmír quickly discovered how to enchant items, brew potions, and use magical powers, which seemed mundane to the people of Vesmír, but supernatural to every outsider. A Great city, called Arcanfalls, was constructed at the center of Vesmír, where the magic flowed strongest. This city would develop into the Capitol of Vesmír and would house the Council of Mystics who studied the magical powers and the Royal Family who ruled the land
The Glory era
With exclusive access to the magical powers, Vesmír became the center of the world and would stay like that for centuries. Vesmír was the global trading hub, most sought-after ally, and most feared enemy. Vesmír could produce more goods than any country, had the most powerful army and citizens could devote more time to things such as philosophy, literature, and arts. Nobody dared to cross them, and so the continent could develop in peace, becoming even more powerful.
Vesmír's Council of Mystics, who were in charge of studying and protecting the magical powers, decided to limit the most powerful spells and potions from normal citizens, so the secrets of magic wouldn't spread to foreign countries, and then used against Vesmír. Closed libraries of Arcanefalls grew as more and more new spells were deemed too powerful or dangerous.
The Disaster era
At the absolute height of Vesmír's glory, everything changed, as a mysterious man, who went by the name The False King entered the story of Vesmír. The False King accused the Royal Family and the Council of Mystics of making magic an elitist luxury, that should instead be shared with the people. The False King promised that if the Council wouldn't open the libraries of Arcanefalls to all people, he would bring the whole of Vesmír to his knees. Eventually, he would do just that.
After Council and the Royal Family refused to adhere to the demands, The False King opened a dimensional portal and released his Army of the Dead. This horrendous army, made of skeletons and rotting corpses, devastated the countryside of Vesmír and forced any survivors to evacuate behind the walls of Arcanefalls. With its magical powers and unprecedented military force, Arcanefalls could fight back the attacks. The False King pulled more powers from the dark dimensions, at expense of his own life and soul. The Army of the Dead slowly turned from organized military to savage monsters, losing any little mental capacity they had.
The False King was destroyed by his own greed. The fight left thousands of monsters roaming the vast land of Vesmír making the land completely uninhabitable. Those who managed to reach the Capitol in time were now stuck there, unable to escape the city or even contact the outside world.
The refugees who got away from the continent quickly developed internal conflict. Some of the now homeless people blamed the Royal Family and the Council for the downfall of Vesmír. They said that if they just would have agreed to The False King's demands, none of this would have happened. But others defended the Royal Family, pointing out, that the closed libraries were closed for a reason; to protect the people from powers too great to give to any one person.
The Revolutionists and Loyalists eventually split into two new groups. Revolutionists started a Clan called Rodina, who wanted to recreate the glory of Vesmír, but with equality and justice. Loyalists called themselves The Progenies and set their goals to bring the last surviving member of the Royal Family back to his rightful throne.
The Revival era
Centuries after the Disaster, the number of monsters had slowly gone down. There was still a horrendous amount of monsters roaming the land, but it was the first time, that a scout from Arcanefalls managed to reach the shores of Vesmír and escape the continent. News of the new, more peaceful state of Vesmír spread quickly, and Rodina and The Progenies headed towards Vesmír, about to reclaim the continent. But they were not the only ones interested in the magical continent. Empire of Therwor, who controlled much of the known world had their eye on the continent as well.
These three Domains rushed to capture Arcanefalls but were surprised to find a thriving city behind the walls. People of Arcanefalls called themselves the Survivors but had no interest in controlling the continent anymore, as the land reminded them of the death and destruction that had surrounded the citizens of Arcanefalls their entire lives for many generations.
It was decided that the Survivors would rule the Capitol, and The Survivors would stay neutral in the conflicts between the Domains. Rodinians, the Army of Therwor, and The Progenies set their own settlements near Arcanefalls. Rodinians built a small town in the thick jungles South-East of the Capital. The Progenies traveled South and reclaimed the ruins of the Royal Palace for themselves and Therwor moved West and repurposed a fort as their base of operations, and set up a military camp there.
Each Domain encouraged settlers to head to Vesmír and start the revival of the land, hoping these new settlers would side with them, and help their domain to conquer the whole of Vesmír.
Soon the land of Vesmír was filled with ambitious and brave adventurers. Ready to take the first step on their own path to glory and riches!
