Rare resources are valuable assets for towns. Rare resources are blocks and items that are either extremely hard or impossible to collect in any other way than by towns generating them. Rare resources include such things as Iron, Gold, Coal, Amethysts, and Obsidian. For a town to be able to start producing rare resources, they first need to become a Manor or higher level and have at least 4 townblocks claimed so they gain the ability to do surveys in their area. A new survey is unlocked on specific town levels and your town needs to have the amount of townblocks equal to the previous levels limit + 1.
So for the second survey, your town needs to be at least Level 4 (Village) and have 17 townblocks, because Level 3's (Hamlet) townblock limit is 16.
Each new survey gives you new rare resource randomly from a list, and you will generate that resource every 24 hours. The resource can be collected by the mayor of the town or by an assistant, if mayor has given such role to a resident. Rare resources can be sold for fixed price in the capital, or sold to other players and towns for bigger profits.
The resources are given out randomly, independently from what other towns have recieved so your town might be the only supplier of specific resource, or you might have competition from another town.
First survey is the cheapest to get, but the price grows exponentially with every new survey you want to do.
